Technical/IT Support Specialist
SKILLS
- Understanding of basic computer terminology, Windows operating system, and Apple macOS
- Experience installing Windows OS, macOS, Linux, software applications, antivirus and patches
- Ability to setup laptops, iPads, monitors, phones, and printers
- Basic knowledge of IP network configuration and security
- Familiarity with MSP/RMM platforms and ticket management
- Ability to learn handling of security events (containment, analysis, data recovery, remediation, etc,)
- Ability to lift and carry equipment that could weigh up to 50 lbs
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office365 is preferred
- Knowledge of Firewall setup, configuration, and administration is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support and resolution of various computer hardware and software issues via telephone, in person, or remotely and escalate complex and/or high priority issues
- Install and configure computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment and associated cabling, firewalls, routers, switches, and NICs
- Troubleshoot networking issues, performing preventative maintenance on hardware and software, executing batch commands and checking error reports
- Conduct vulnerability assesments, continuous monitoring scans, patching
- Create and update documentation for client’s systems and processes
- Hardware and software inventory and reporting
- Sites surveys of current site configuration and user requirements
- Drawings documenting configuration changes
- On occasions he/she might need to run and install network cabling
- Train end-users on hardware functionality and software programs
- Test new technology
- Maintain in-house IT equiipment inventory
- Help prepare, plan, and execute IT work related to IT cybersecurity compliance, when required
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong interest in computer technologies and cybersecurity
- 1-3 years of experience as an IT or Help Desk Support Specialist; educational background and certifications (e.g., A+, Net+, Sec+) can be applied towards experience
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
- Able to accept guidance from an experienced mentor and have a strong desire to help people
- Ability to work and get along with others well. This is a highly sociable job that requires working with clients directly
- Follow through and task organized: You will need to follow up with clients and complete the tasks of your assigned job responsibility as scheduled and on time
- Ability to keep up with technical innovation and trends in IT support
- Availability for occassional after-hours work/support
- Current Driver’s license, good standing driving record, and reliable automobile
